Shimmering Body Oil Is Trending for Summer 2026

Analysts are witnessing ‘major expansion’ across body categories, particularly in moisturization.

Skin health-conscious consumers are putting in additional work when it comes to their personal care routines – all in the name of achieving their best skin yet.

Analysts say they’re witnessing “major expansion” across body categories, particularly in moisturization.

Currently, shimmering body oil and body serum are the fastest-spreading body moisturizing products according to Spate’s Popularity Index.

Shimmering Body Oil

While a sun-kissed glow was once a coveted invisible accessory for beauty lovers, health-conscious consumers are increasingly aware of the effects of UV overexposure and seeking to achieve that radiance from the safety of their humble abodes.

According to Spate, shimmering body oil has grown 129.2% compared to last year, and across platforms. It remains a relatively low popularity trend, meaning it is not yet widely adopted, yet its rapid growth signals accelerating consumer interest. Analysts say once discovered, it tends to shine. This trend is currently dominated by TikTok, which accounts for 79.1% of Popularity Share and has grown 142.4% year-over-year. It sees 2,100 average monthly Google searches and 274,500 average weekly TikTok views. Search interest includes brands like Tom Ford Beauty (3,200 average monthly searches) and Vaseline (1,900), while TikTok-related branded hashtags include #phlur (18,900 average weekly views), #vaseline (12,200) and #saltair (4,900), underscoring its accessibility across price points. On TikTok, adjacent hashtags span paid visibility tags like #ad (25,800 average weekly views) alongside glow-driven terms such as #bodyglow (21,900) and #glowyskin (7,800), reflecting strong demand for radiant, shimmer-enhanced skin. Seasonal relevance is also evident through #summeressentials (2,600). Overall sentiment is highly positive (8.5/10), with most viewer responses favoring the trend.

Body serum is another category spreading in popularity, as consumers are well-educated on what a serum is, thanks to broader skincare literacy. A lightweight product designed to be used before or in lieu of traditional body moisturizers, body serum has grown 88.5% compared to last year and across platforms, per Spate. This is a high popularity trend, meaning it is already widely known and adopted by consumers, yet it continues to grow rapidly. It is currently driven by TikTok, which holds 47.9% of the Popularity Share and has grown 118.7% year-over-year. The trend generates 21,100 average monthly Google searches and 1.3 million average weekly TikTok views. On Search, queries like body wash (13,700 average monthly searches) reflect interest in body serum formats connected to in-shower body care routines, while neck (7,900) suggests demand for targeted application on specific body areas. Review (4,600) indicates consumers are actively seeking validation and reassurance before purchasing.

On TikTok, hashtags such as #dryskin (208,100 average weekly views) and #eczema (204,200) highlight strong consumer demand for body care solutions addressing skin sensitivity and concern-driven routines. Product-format tags like #bodylotion and #bodywash (90,800) reflect exploration across both in-shower and out-of-shower body care categories tied to body serum usage, while #ad (179,700) points to the role of sponsored content in driving visibility and discovery. The trend’s top related branded hashtags include #naturium (205,300 average weekly views), #saltair (20,900), and #oseapartner (5,100), while search interest spans brands such as Olay (11,800 average monthly searches), Nécessaire (2,200) and Dove (1,600), demonstrating appeal across a wide range of price points.
